The world today is complicated. It's not a good place for many. Anyone can see that the few have much, and the many have little! We – humanity – are destroying the climate and biodiversity. There are wars and conflicts in many places, and the threats of further, worse conflicts are omnipresent. The world, to me, is an unbearable place! If one looks for the good, they will see it, and if one looks for the bad, they will see it. Whether one sees the cup as half full or half empty is a matter of perspective. However, I believe many today see the cup as half empty. I see the world as half empty – so much unrealized potential for humanity.
In this world, I will try to understand myself and my role as a human being. I find it difficult.
I'm not perfect, I know that – who is?
I am a war veteran who believes I was sent to war in Afghanistan on false pretenses. Yes, you can call me a true conspiracy theorist. I don't believe the truth about September 11th is as the official explanation goes. But it gets worse! I am convinced that we are being visited by extraterrestrial beings. This belief has plunged me into deep depression for the past 12 years. Since then, I have sought help in psychiatry where I have been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. My beliefs couldn't be taken seriously but were equated with delusions. I am not in doubt that I suffer from PTSD, possibly also anxiety and manic-depressive states. Additionally, I am plagued by a severe case of Messiah/Savior/Sun King complex. I believe I am destined for something greater than what life offers me, but life seems to be against me. I know many share the same complex. I almost think it's symptomatic of our modern society to create individuals who believe they are meant to save the world.
However, I have been told that one should not believe oneself to be Jesus. There are many such individuals in psychiatry – oh, damn...
Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons believe we are living in the last days, and that a savior will come and solve all of humanity's problems. Similar beliefs exist within Islam and Judaism. So, is it just a matter of waiting for someone to come and solve all the world's problems? Does the individual not have a responsibility? Should we humans just wait, and then a savior will come – or are the saviors already sitting in psychiatry, heavily medicated? Does humanity even need saviors? Savior from what? Isn't everything going just fine??
War, destruction, persecution, and environmental destruction haunt humanity in our time; most are aware of this. But what can we do about it? Who can be the individual to say that we humans are destroying ourselves and each other with what we do today, without being accused of trying to be a savior, and that it's something one shouldn't believe they are – because if so, they are insane??
What is humanity in our time beyond a threat to ourselves, and who will correct it? A savior? I'll take it upon myself gladly, because apparently, I'm crazy!!! But what about the rest of you? Don't you all have a responsibility in this messed up time we're in?
Am I crazy for pointing out that the way humanity lives today is unsustainable, and that we are heading towards even more war and destruction than we see today? Am I crazy for saying that we must have change if we want to thrive on our beautiful earth? Am I crazy for saying that the resources used for war and destruction could be better spent? Am I crazy for saying that ET is not the threat to humanity, but that humanity is a threat to itself, as things stand today? Am I crazy for wanting to save humanity from itself?? Am I crazy?? Or did I stand too close to the fire, like a lion looking for forgiveness from a stone?
